Hey Guys! Joseph again.
Sorry the last couple of days have been so short and sweet, I’ve been tired! And the singers have been also. It has been a while since we went this direction (2015 to be exact), and I had forgotten how long the bus rides are. It’s tiring just to do the work of travelling.
But today was a little reprieve. We had quite a drive, but there wasn’t a ton of activity, and we got to the hotel early so we had some down time, and I can see the kids already recuperating and getting some much-needed recovery time.
Now, that doesn’t mean we did nothing. We spent two hours at the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is the southwest’s magnum opus. We have seen so much desert and rock formations and gulches and canyons. Enough to last us quite a while, but the Grand Canyon sums it all up in one masterstroke of creation. It seems like all the beauty we have experienced came to a crescendo today. Indeed, we are heading east now and the terrain will slowly but surely start to more and more resemble home from here on out.
Two hours really isn’t enough at the Grand Canyon. To stand on the rim and see it defies belief that it is anything more than a beautiful backdrop to an old movie set. Its beauty is so unspeakable that it seems barely real to just stand and look at it (much less to try and capture it in a picture, which is basically meaningless). I think to really “get” the Grand Canyon you need to go down and see it from all angles, hike around the rim, get on a donkey, and sleep in a tent. For now that remains on the bucket list, and something the sponsor men all say we should do someday. But, your kid got to see that today. Something many people spend a lifetime waiting to do. They did it… here on New G tour. Thank you for giving them that opportunity.
Besides that, we had our annual meeting for people who are interested in running for our executive committee or one of our four officer positions. The sponsors all took one of the positions and explained the responsibilities to the singers that were interested.
Right now, it is 1:00 a.m. where you all are, and I can’t wait to get back in good ol’ CST.
Signing off,
Joseph

Tour Day 6 – Kings Canyon & Sequoia National Park
It’s a rare treat to get to stay in a hotel more than one night, but Bakersfield, CA gets two nights. I have tried to warn everyone when I do room check to do their best to avoid suitcase vomiting all over their room to ensure that their funk doesn’t fester. But,...
Tour Day 5 – Las Vegas, NV to Bakersfield, CA
Well, I’m leaving Las Vegas today, Leaving Las Vega-a-a-a-s. Any Sheryl Crow fans out there? Tap, tap… Is this thing on??? Anyway, Leaving Las Vegas is exactly what we did. At least after we swung by the Bellagio so that the singers could gawk at the opulence that...
Tour Day 4 – Moab UT to Las Vegas NV
I mentioned in the blog post yesterday the stark and inhospitable beauty of Eastern Utah, and I think that nowhere else exemplifies this more than Moab, UT. I kept expecting to come across as cowboy in a 5 gallon hat hunting an outlaw named Rufus who was hiding down...
